About Occoquan Boat Club
The Occoquan Boat Club was founded in 1979 to recruit members interested in rowing, sponsor crew races, send teams to regattas, and generally support rowing in Northern Virginia. OBC’s focus has been on sculling, and club members have the use of an enviable fleet of 23 race-worthy singles, doubles and quads. Scullers of all ages join the club for recreation as well as competition. Members enjoy some of the most reasonable membership fees of any club in the area.
The club’s fleet is housed at Sandy Run Park on the Occoquan Reservoir, which boasts some of the best rowing conditions in the mid Atlantic region. OBC does not offer coached programs, but members form groups that gather regularly to perform race pieces or recreational outings.
Each year OBC sponsors two highly regarded regattas: the Head of the Occoquan (HOTO) held in late October / early November and the Occoquan Memorial Sprints (OMS) held in July. We invite all interested scullers and rowers to join us on the Occoquan.
